Super biomaterials to fight super bugs and faster, cleaner, safer chemicals

University research into super biomaterials to fight super bugs and faster, cleaner, safer chemicals is attracting the attention of hundreds of school children this week at the Royal Society Summer Exhibition. 

The University of Nottingham has not one, but two stands at this year’s show and both have been a big hit with the crowds.

The School of Chemistry’s ‘Green Light for Chemistry’ exhibit focuses on the use of photochemistry and electrochemistry in continuous reactors to make the manufacture of chemicals faster, cleaner and safer. And joining the resistance in the fight against superbugs is a team from the School of Pharmacy who’s serendipitous discovery is already being used in clinical trials as a coating for urinary catheters.

You’ve still got time to go – the event is on all week until Sunday 7 July. With more than 22 exhibits exploring the very latest advances in science, and access to hundreds of scientists, the Summer Science Exhibition offers a unique opportunity to explore the science shaping our future with the people who are making it happen.
