Remembering the fallen at Sutton Bonington

Fallen soldiers will be remembered at Sutton Bonington as part of University-wide events commemorating 100 years since the end of World War I.

On Sunday 11 November 2018 at 11am there will be a minute’s silence and a memorial plaque unveiled close to The Barn.

The plaque shares the story of two avenues of lime trees which were planted in 1929 and 1930 when the campus was Midland Agricultural College.

The trees run from the site of the original dairy (now The Barn) down to the farm and other to the north.

Some of the trees were planted in memory of fallen comrades in the Great War.

The ceremony has been organised Professor Julian Wiseman who is Honorary Treasurer of the Old Kingstonian Association (an alumni network) who have also funded the memorial plaque along, with the schools of Biosciences and Veterinary Medicine and Science.

All are welcome to attend and pay tribute.

Events are also set to take place on University Park on Friday 9 November and across the City.
