Chris Jagger scoops top award for Long-Term Contribution to University
Chris Jagger, Chief Estates and Facilities Officer at the University, has won the Association of University Directors of Estates’ (AUDE) Chair’s Award for Long Term Contribution. The award celebrates Chris’ long-term achievements benefiting the higher education estates and facilities management community.
The 2017 AUDE Awards took place on 11 April at Manchester Metropolitan University. Each year the awards celebrate and highlight the achievements of universities and best practice in the industry, including those who lead the way in estate and facilities management.
As Chief Estates and Facilities Officer at the University for over 20 years, Chris has completely transformed the campuses of University which is vast in scale and plays an integral part of navigating the estates at several other campuses in the UK and overseas.
Chris Jagger joined the University in 1995 as director of estate management and has led the development of the estate both in the UK, China and Malaysia.
His leadership and vision has seen the university’s UK and overseas footprint grow enormously. The University’s UK footprint now stands at 1,614 acres comprising four campus areas and other land holdings within the city of Nottingham and south Nottinghamshire. The award-winning Jubilee campus was a revolutionary development and created a huge buzz in the sector at the time, successfully reclaiming brown field and capturing the vision of Hopkins Architects.
Chris Jagger said: “I’m thrilled to win the AUDE award for long term contribution to the estate and facilities sector. My career has spanned over 22 years and it’s a fantastic achievement for my work to be recognised by AUDE, an organisation I am proud to be a part of.”
The judges were on the lookout for individuals who have made a significant contribution to enhancing excellence and ensuring university estates provide best value to support the institutional mission and promote efficiency and effectiveness.
Mike Clark, director of estates and facilities management at the University of Brighton said; “Chris is a well-respected professional and his highly regarded reputation is a credit to the HE sector. A thoroughly deserving winner, he has transformed The University of Nottingham campus and formed links overseas. Chris is a valued member of AUDE and we are extremely pleased to award him the Long-Term Contribution award.”
