Nottingham University Samworth Academy (NUSA) had its best ever set of GCSE results, with 52 per cent of students getting an A*-C including English and Maths. It also had a Progress 8 score of -0.07 and a Attainment 8 score of 4.15.
Alessio Russo got two A*s, three As, five Bs and a distinction. He said: “My results are pretty good, I’m happy. The exams were difficult but I studied hard and I do believe you get out what you put in.”
Head Mark Watts added: “We are delighted with the results secured by our students this year. Everyone’s commitment and hard work has paid dividends, meaning more life choices and better life chances for our students than ever before.
“I would like to applaud our students for their sheer determination and the incredible effort that they have put in to achieve these grades. We wish them the best of luck with their chosen path and their lives beyond NUSA.”
Sarah O’Hara, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Education and Student Experience at The University of Nottingham said: “As co-sponsors of NUSA, the University of Nottingham is delighted with the improvements that have been made at the academy over the course of this year – most notably in the areas of English and Maths. It is very encouraging to see the hard work of students and staff pay off – well done to all.”
Meanwhile Nottingham University Academy of Science and Technology (NUAST) celebrated its first set of GCSE results.
With a combined English and Maths figure of 60%, NUAST is now amongst the highest performing schools in the city. Results in the academy’s specialist areas were also very impressive with the science GCSE subjects achieving a 77.8% A*-C pass rate, Engineering securing a 100% A*-C pass rate and IT 80%.
Other highlights in what has been a hugely successful year include 100% A*-C in languages, 68% A*-C in English, and 67% A*-C in Maths.
Bob White, Principal of NUAST said: “It is with an immense sense of pride that I offer my heartfelt congratulations to each and everyone of our Year 11 students. Our Year 11s chose NUAST two years ago because they were passionate about science, engineering or IT. That passion has now been rewarded with GCSE results that will allow them to move into further education or apprenticeships fully equipped to succeed.
“I am particularly pleased that NUAST has helped students secure some brilliant outcomes in its specialist subject areas and I would like to thank all our Industry and University partners for their tireless support and commitment to the Academy.
“This summer the GCSE and A Level results have confirmed NUAST’s place as a high achieving academy offering a real alternative for students in Nottingham City and County.”
