Fire on Jubilee Campus
Dr Paul Greatrix, Registrar at The University of Nottingham said: “Firefighters are currently on site dealing with a major fire at our GSK sustainable chemistry building on Jubilee Campus.
“Thankfully, there have been no casualties as this is a building that was still under construction. Our number one priority is to ensure that the fire does not spread to other buildings in the vicinity and we are grateful to the fire teams on site who have worked extremely hard to contain the blaze.
“Tomorrow we are due to welcome prospective students and their families to Nottingham for our Open Day and we would like to stress that this is still going ahead as planned.”
So glad nobody was hurt xxx
Is the open day still on.
Yes, the Open Day is still on. Follow @uniofnottingham and #uonopenday for updates throughout the day but University Park is unaffected by the fire and Jubilee Campus can be accessed via Wollaton Rd.
Read the article properly

Should a new “state of the art” building like this react how it has to fire?. I feel questions should be asked of Architects, Building Control and Building Contractors as something is seriously wrong with this design.
Thanks for your comment but I can assure you that the building was designed to comply with all relevant building regulations and requirements for safety.
Hi Tom,
I’m writing an article for my student newspaper at University of Edinburgh regarding the fire that occurred on Friday. I was wondering if I could ask you a couple of questions? Is there another way I could potentially contact you? This would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Just relieved there were no injuries, I have a lot of happy memories working at the University X
Are the other buildings on Jubilee Campus open as normal, I work in IoMH building?
Yes, all other buildings on Jubilee are open as usual
Very sad to hear this….
Well done to Nottingham fire and rescue team, who did an amazing job. That was a massive fire, which could have easily speared around and destroy all houses and buildings in the Jubilee neighbourhood. Well managed with fire-fighters, otherwise no doubt it could have been a lot worst. Thanks to all people helped to control the fire last night and hope this will never happen.
Sorry to hear that. One building can be destroyed but confidence will not be die out. Good luck for my university.
Does anyone know the source of the fire?
