On trial: Virginia Company Archives and Slavery, Abolition & Social Justice
We currently have 2 trials from AM (Adam Matthew Digital), Virginia Company Archives and Slavery, Abolition & Social Justice.
This provides a history of the Virginia Company of London, 1606-1624, and comes from the archives of the Ferrar family who played a major part in the Company’s administration.
The resource documents the founding and economic development of the Virginia colony, relations between colonists and indigenous peoples and early trade between Britain and America.
It provides records and transcriptions from the Company as well as maps and colourised prints.
Slavery, Abolition & Social Justice
This resource contains primary source documents from archives and libraries across North America and the UK between 1490 and 2007.
As well as primary sources there are secondary sources such as scholarly essays, thematic tutorials, a visual sources gallery, chronology and bibliography. It also includes records from US Supreme and lower courts of North Carolina, Georgia, Missouri and Louisiana.
Both trials run until 24 October 2023. Do let us know what you think. Please send your feedback to the Libraries Collections team: collections@nottingham.ac.uk.
