On trial: Making of the Modern World

We are pleased to announce a trial of The Making of the Modern World

This resource covers The Goldsmiths’-Kress Collection 1450-1850 and supports research across various disciplines by looking at trade and wealth and how they contributed to the development of the modern Western world. It gives access to primary sources and rare books, some of which are the only known copy. The resource includes more than 61,000 books and 466 serials with full-text search.

Highlights include material relating to:

  • Expansion of world trade
  • Exploration and colonisation in the New World
  • The Industrial Revolution
  • Development of modern capitalism

The Making of the Modern World is a useful tool for looking at the competition for trade and power and exploring how economics and imperialism impacted on major historical events of this period.

The trial runs until 1st April 2020.

Do let us know what you think. Please send your feedback to the Libraries Collections team: collections@nottingham.ac.uk
