Better World Books update
Around this time last year to coincide with World Book Day, we told you about our relationship with Better World Books (BWB) which turns our withdrawn library stock into funds to support our chosen Literacy Partner, Read International.
We’re celebrating World Book Day again today and there’s lots going on across our libraries. It seemed the ideal time to update you – we’ve raised a whopping £4,265 to help fund educational resources in Tanzanian secondary schools.
When our books cannot be sold or donated, they are recycled. Since we started working with BWB in 2015, 16,336 books have been recycled into usable fiber – that’s about 260 trees! The table below shows how we’re working to limit our environmental impact through waste reduction.
