Season’s Greetings from the International Office

Season’s greetings from The University of Nottingham International Office!

As we reach the end of 2014 and get ready to welcome in 2015, many of our students, staff and colleagues at Nottingham and around the world are taking a well-earned break to spend time with families and friends, celebrate the holidays and make plans for the year ahead.

All offices at The University of Nottingham, including the International Office, will be closed for the Christmas and New Year period from Thursday 25 December 2014 to Sunday 4 January 2015, reopening on Monday 5 January 2015. Closing dates for University libraries and other campus facilities can be found on the Press Office blog.

You are welcome to contact us by email during this period, and we will respond to any new correspondence as soon as possible after the International Office reopens on Monday 5 January 2015.

Follow our Facebook and Twitter pages for the latest news and insights from the International Office and our international students. We will continue posting comments and tweets throughout the Christmas and New Year period but will be unable to respond to any messages until our office reopens on 5 January.

We would like to wish all our students, colleagues, followers and friends at Nottingham and around the world a very merry Christmas, a happy New Year and best wishes for 2015.

We’ll be back with a new International Student Life blog post from one our wonderful international students in early January. In the meantime, here are some updates you may find interesting.

International Office 2015 Calendar

International Office Calendar 2015

The International Office’s 2015 Calendar is a useful resource for students, applicants and colleagues, and can help you in planning your year, especially if you are preparing to study at Nottingham in 2015.

The calendar contains a variety of important dates and deadlines, such as  Nottingham’s academic term and semester dates, UK public holidays and University closure dates, application closing dates for our international scholarships and presessional English courses, and nomination deadlines for spending part of your degree course at Nottingham on study abroad and exchange programmes in 2015/16. It also includes useful links to our website and a selection of photographs from our campuses and events.

Scholarship success stories

We are very proud of our scholarship winners and hold a Scholarship Awards Celebration each year to honour their achievement. You can view a selection of photographs from the 2014 Scholarship Awards Celebration, held in November, on the International Office Facebook page. You can also read a blog post about the event by Olutomisin Adedeji from Nigeria, who is studying MSc Crop Improvement with a Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship, on the International Student Life blog.

Here is what a few of our 2014 scholarship winners say about their scholarships:

“Without the Developing Solutions Scholarship I would not have been able to afford further study, much less in the UK. This has allowed me the opportunity to form worthwhile connections and reach my full academic potential in a field which I am passionate about.” – Omari Blackman from Barbados, studying MSc Electronic Communications and Computer Engineering with funding from the Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship.

“I can show the world that I have the academic ability, determination, and personal qualities to achieve success. Without this financial aid, I could not afford these studies.” – Sona Mikulikova from Slovakia, studying MSc Work and Organisational Psychology with funding from the European Union Masters Scholarship.

“Besides helping me to get admission in the university financially, the scholarship has instilled in me self-respect and a lot of confidence to pursue my research.” – Debi Prasad Pattnaik from India, studying PhD Physics with funding from the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship for Research Excellence.

Applications are open now 2015 scholarships. We are offering over 250 masters scholarships and over 100 postgraduate research scholarships in 2015, plus a selection of undergraduate awards and prizes.

We will share more comments from our 2014 scholarship winners on our Facebook page over the Christmas and New Year period.
