Wholesome Juicery: Making a Dream, Reality

Today we’re talking to the founder of Nottingham’s Vegan Juicery, Naeem Sajid, and hearing about his entrepreneurial journey.

What did you study at the University of Nottingham?
I did my undergraduate in Finance, Accounting & Management (with many Political science modules) at the University of Nottingham.
What made you want to be an entrepreneur?
I wanted to become an entrepreneur because it seemed like the best way to be able to be of benefit to wider society. Essentially you perceive a problem and rather than merely reacting, an entrepreneur responds with a solution in the hope of solving the problem.
What is your business concept?
Wholesome is Nottingham’s first Raw Juicery serving nutritious and delicious juices, shakes and cleanse programmes for healthier and happier lives. All of our drinks are made with 100% fruit, vegetables & superfoods with no added preservatives, juice from concentrate or dairy. Our bar is Vegan, all ingredients are from local suppliers & organic where available. We are based in the city centre and also currently stock at Hotpod Yoga’s Nottingham studio. Wholesome is a proud partner of The Gym and regularly collaborates with retail stores such as House of Fraser, Sweaty Betty and more.
What stage are you currently at in setting up your company/business?
I set up Wholesome this year and now, alongside a team, we are working to grow the Juicery. We are in the process of creating our website where people will be able to place cleanse orders and benefit from a delivery service.
What challenges have you faced during the process?
As cliché as it is to say (and your probably sick of hearing it too!), no day is the same in business. Each brings its own problems but the more days you fight through the more capacity and strength you build to be able to solve the problems you have to face.
How has being an Ingenuity Lab member helped you?
The Ingenuity Lab played a pivotal role in the development of Wholesome Juicery, particularly in the early stages when curating the concept and a purpose-built kiosk. It offered a creative hub for me to spend time in to make my idea into reality. In hindsight I really appreciate this because entering into entrepreneurship can be quite daunting and isolating, the lab and my fellow members made this stage easier as there were others that were going through or had gone through the same process.
What are your goals for this year?
My primary goals for the remaining months of this year are to expand our cleanse programme to online, hone our delivery service and broaden our reach!
