Congratulations to Matt Stevenson-Dodd, MBA graduate and CEO of Trust Impact, who has been shortlisted for the global Association of MBAs Entrepreneur of the Year award 2024.

The AMBA Entrepreneur of the Year Award celebrates the achievements of successful alumni in entrepreneurial business innovation and strategy. It is designed to recognise the impact made by growing organisations in terms of their development, results and achievements.

Matt’s career progress:

Following his graduation from Nottingham University Business School in 2006, with an MBA with Distinction, Matt’s career in the charity sector really took off. He quickly progressed and in 2010 was appointed CEO of Street League, a national charity using football to tackle homelessness.

Matt pioneered an impact measurement culture which enabled the charity to publish a radically new approach to impact reporting in 2016, highlighting the things the charity didn’t get right, as well as everything they did.

Who are Trust Impact?

Matt founded Trust Impact in January 2019 with a view to changing the whole impact measurement consultancy offer, not only for charities but for socially focused businesses and funders. He devised three core principles – ‘impact first’, ‘keep it simple’, and ‘be creative’, and set out to help organisations find more pragmatic and transparent ways to talk about the difference they were making.

Trust Impact has grown considerably and is now a leading strategic impact, measurement and data specialist. They have worked with the CEOs, senior teams and boards of over 80 organisations including RSPCA, British Refugee Council, and YMCA England and Wales. Two years ago, they also began working in the private sector, advising the social investment team at Shell UK on how to collect live impact data for their £100m investment in jobs and skills for the green transition.

They also introduced new automated data collection processes and created live data visualisations for numerous organisations including Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust which now has a completely automated data collection system and live visualisation.

Social Impact

Trust Impact is a business which also achieves social impact in its own right and is therefore a great example of how businesses can balance purpose with profit. Significant social impact is created by helping organisations focus on what matters and then helping them direct resources to where they make the most impact.
