This blog explores how cities are tackling urban flood and water challenges and developing visions for Blue-Green urban futures, characterised by Blue-Green infrastructure (including green roofs, swales, rain gardens, street trees and ponds) that delivers multiple benefits for the environment, society and economy. The Blue-Green Futures project is part of the British Academy programme on Tackling the UK’s International Challenges, and investigates environmentally sustainable urban governance in four international case studies; Newcastle (UK), Rotterdam (the Netherlands), Portland (USA) and Ningbo (China).
