It provides an informal opportunity to find out more about the Nottingham MBA programme. Detailed information about the various courses, specialisms and study options will be available and our knowledgeable and friendly MBA staff will be on hand to answer any questions. The event also features guest speaker and renowned futurist Christopher Barnatt.

Future Gazing and Future Shaping

In the face of pending resource and environmental constraints, and the development of new technologies, future business leaders need to recognize that the future will be very different from today. At this event, Christopher Barnatt will signpost the critical sustainability challenges that lie ahead, as well as highlighting developments in 3D printing, synthetic biology, nanotechnology, urban agriculture and artificial intelligence that will help us overcome them. Moving beyond future gazing, Chris will then explore how informed leaders have the opportunity to shape the future by propagating a new, more sustainable narrative as the foundation for tomorrow’s corporation.

Chris has been a professional futurist for over 20 years, and runs ExplainingTheFuture.com, ExplainingComputers.com and their associated YouTube channels. He has published eleven books and numerous articles, with over 200 contributions to broadcast, print and online media around the globe. His latest book – The Next Big Thing – was published in November 2015.

For 25 years Chris lectured in computing and future studies in Nottingham University Business School, where he spent seven years as Director of Undergraduate Programmes. As a keynote speaker, he now delivers presentations for a wide range of clients in sectors including financial services, healthcare and the arts. For over 30 years he has also worked as an animator, with footage supplied to the BBC and other broadcasters.
