Summer Graduation 2015 – The Second Week

After two wonderful weeks, Summer Graduation is nearly over for another year! The sun has continued to shine and the Alumni Relations team have thoroughly enjoyed meeting graduates, finding out about their next steps and letting them know how they can continue to be engaged as part of the University of Nottingham’s alumni community.

We also had the pleasure of chatting with couple Jason Millington and Chrisca Joseph who met during their second year at the University and graduated together from the School of Life Sciences.  Chrisca is returning in September to study for her PGCE at our Jubilee Campus, whilst Jason has secured a new role in Vancouver!

250,000 alumni

Today, we have decorated our stand with banners and balloons to celebrate officially passing the 250,000 alumni mark.  Our 250,000 alumni graduated this morning during the School of Law ceremony and joined us in celebrating the University reaching such a great milestone! Graduate Victoria Rowley was the lucky 250,000 alumni, who joined the University as a J C Smith Scholarship recipient, graduating with a degree in Law with American Law and has secured a training contract at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in London. Keep an eye on our Twitter to read more about the celebrations as well as some interesting facts about what our 250,00o alumni have got up to over the past 134 years!

More than 7,000 students have graduated this Summer, of which approx 6,400 attended the ceremonies and we have had the opportunity to speak with around 4,000 of them – it’s been a busy two weeks! As well as meeting and speaking with all these graduates, we also continued to give away our Alumni tote bag which proved a great success and got lots of lovely shots for our Facebook page.  It’s great to also meet so many friends and family who have traveled from far and wide to share in their loved ones’ successes!

It’s fair to say our graduates are heading off to do some really exciting things, including teaching aboard, securing graduate roles in a range of sectors to taking time out to travel to some wonderful places.  We are also please to hear that many are returning to the University to undertake further study!
