13 December 2016 – what’s the story behind door number 13?

Nottingham Dollies prove cloned sheep can live long and healthy lives.

In July Debbie, Denise, Dianna and Daisy, the four Nottingham Dollies, attracted the attention of the world’s media. Our research had shown that these four elderly ladies, derived from the same cell line — genomic copies of Dolly — reached their 8th birthdays in good health.

The research was published in Nature Communications just three weeks after the scientific world marked the 20th anniversary of the birth of Dolly the sheep.

Who opened the door?

In keeping with the farming theme Mike Davies, the University’s Farm Manager, revealed the Dolly story on our digital advent calendar and review of 2016.
