Get a spring in your step with the Advantage Award

By Matthew Lumley, Nottingham Advantage Award officer

The Advantage Award is not just about completing modules. Even if you have already completed the Award, we offer you many other ways to boost your employability and skills.

Find your next module

Some spring module applications are closing at the end of this term, but some will still be open in January.

Use our search tool to filter our modules by term and find your next module.

Apply for a prize

Our employer partners are due to support us again with our Advantage Award prizes.

These recognise areas such as leadership, inclusion and work in the community.

You need to have passed a minimum of two Advantage Award modules by the end of February to be eligible.

Our prize process will allow you to experience a mini-recruitment process.

You can apply to a maximum of two prizes and if successful you will be invited to interview for one of them.

After your interviewyou will receive feedback on your performance. Therefore, even if you are unsuccessful you will still get some key interview advice.

If you win, you could get an employer insight experience or funds to treat yourself.

It is a win win, so why not give it go? Applications open 1 February.

Get ready for the workplace

Our workshop programme will be returning next term.

Learn how to:

  • Showcase your Award experience to employers
  • Overcome challenges in the workplace
  • Recognise your strengths

So far, you will have been encouraged to reflect on your Award modules individually. However, these workshops will help you reflect and identify the skills you have developed across the entire scheme.

We guide you on how to identify your strengths so you can articulate them to an employer in the recruitment process.

Represent your student community

Do you want to share what you have learnt on the Award or suggest improvements?

You can be the student voice and join our Steering Group.

From 26 February, we will be looking to recruit our student representatives for the 2021/22 academic year. We usually select one student per Faculty and a postgraduate representative.

In the role, you can:

  • Gain an insight into the inner workings of a University scheme
  • Meet University staff and fellow Award students
  • Showcase the Award and provide student feedback

Applications open 26 February. Find out more

Nominate your Module of the Year

Say thank you to a module that has had a significant impact on your personal development.

We share any nominations with our module convenors and they really appreciate them.

From your nominations we shortlist around six modules and the winner is chosen by our Award steering group.
