Don’t miss out……places are going fast!

Term has only just begun, but already the Advantage Award is proving to be popular among students. We’ve been inundated with applications for lots of our modules – so much so that we’ve had to close some applications early.

But fear not! We’re still taking applications for lots of great modules, so now’s the time to make your choice and apply before all of the spaces are taken.

If you’re interested in getting involved in a module which will allow you to interact with graduate employers and increase your professional skills why not try one of our employer-led modules? With companies like Enterprise Rent A Car, Save the Children and Michael Page International offering sessions on topics including Corporate Social Responsibility, how to become a strong leader and the importance of sales in business, you’re sure to gain a lot of experience which will be beneficial when you begin the journey down your career path after graduation.

Or why not choose a module which focuses on developing key skills to enhance your employability? Our Skills for Employability module is now full for the Autumn term, but applications for the Spring semester are now open. With this being one of our most popular modules it’s sure to fill up fast so get your application in now!

How about a module which improves your understanding of the recruitment process and offers you valuable insight into the minds of what employers will be looking for from you? Our Career Planning Skills module takes you right the way through the recruitment process, from CV writing to interview skills to tips for assessment centres. If you’re determined to improve your career prospects this is a module which cannot be missed. This module is also full for the Autumn term, but applications for Spring will be opening in mid-October – keep your eye on the module’s workspace page to find out when you can get your application in.

If you are undertaking some form of work, volunteering, an internship or placement why not accredit something you’re already doing through the Award scheme? What an easy way to complete a module! The Part-time Jobs, Vacation Jobs and Volunteering module, and the Internships and Placements module, both encourage you to develop professional behaviours and attributes and get the most out of the work you are undertaking. Be sure to apply soon to avoid missing your chance to take part!

Looking for a module that you could really sink your creative teeth into? Why not look at one of our Enterprise, Events and Project Management modules which allow you to exercise your creativity through designing a special event or enterprise. In the Teach First: Designing a Social Enterprise module you’ll get the opportunity to tackle a real social issue and design a social enterprise to serve the local community. The Alumni Relations Project Management involves coming up with a creative concept and then devising, running and managing one main event to highlight Alumni Relations across the student body.

If you are involved in the organisation of a group within the Students’ Union or take part in a long term volunteering activity through the Student Volunteer Centre you can accredit this through the Students’ Union Volunteering Activity. You’ll be given training in vital skills relating to your activity including leadership, assertiveness and project management.

This is only a taste of the kinds of modules we have to offer you! To view all of our available modules and to find how to apply for them before spaces run out, make sure you visit our workspace site soon!
