University ready to make a splash at London 2012
To celebrate the arrival of the Olympics Games in the UK, we have scoured the University for staff, students and alumni who will be taking part.
And we weren’t disappointed. Researchers, commentators, volunteers and torch bearers are among those who feature in our special Olympic edition of Exchange magazine as they look to make London 2012 a success.
The University can also lay claim to some of the nation’s brightest medal hopes.
Anne Panter, Rob Moore, Nick Catlin and Harry Martin will represent GB’s hockey teams, while Chris Bartley and Olivia Whitlam are among the favourites in the Men’s Four and Women’s Eight rowing events.
But it is perhaps in the canoeing, where expectations will be highest. Former Olympic medallists Tim Brabants and David Florence will be looking to add to previous success, while Etienne Stott, Tim Baillie and Johny Akinyemi will be pushing for the podium in their first Games.
This blog will provide insights from those involved, keep you updated on the University’s athletes and provide the latest news from the Games.
Or you can find out more about those involved and how Nottingham became one of the UK’s most successful Olympic Universities in our special edition of Exchange magazine.
