Nottingham Playhouse Sleuth actors support the forthcoming Nottingham in Parliament Day
Two actors from Nottingham Playhouse’s forthcoming production of Sleuth – James Alexandrou and Miles Richardson – have shown their support for the forthcoming Nottingham in Parliament Day, which takes place on Tuesday 25 October.
Nottingham in Parliament Day is a one-day take-over of Westminster – showcasing and celebrating the institutions, ideas, businesses and people that make Nottingham great.
Sleuth runs at Nottingham Playhouse from 9-24 September. The ultimate game of cat and mouse, it is a Tony award-winning thriller by Anthony Shaffer where nothing is quite as it seems.
Andrew Wyke is a rich and successful mystery writer whose obsession with playing games is in danger of losing him everything. Luring his wife’s lover Milo to his country pile, Andrew persuades him to take part in a specially created challenge. Before long their power struggle descends into a sinister and deadly duel of wits, where nothing is off limits. Investigating a Missing Person, Inspector Doppler attempts to untangle fact from fiction, deception from truth and murderer from victim.
In Sleuth, Shaffer creates one of the most witty, suspenseful and ingenious plays of the 20th century. This production stars James Alexandrou as Milo (Romeo and Juliet – Shakespeare’s Globe, Silent Witness and EastEnders – BBC) and Miles Richardson as Andrew Wyke (The Invisible Man – Harold Pinter Theatre, Doctor Who – BBC and Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone – Warner Bros). Sleuth marks James’ return to Nottingham Playhouse where he first performed in the 2008 production, All Quiet on the Western Front.
Director, Giles Croft said: “I’m delighted to be directing Sleuth, it’s a play that has always intrigued and fascinated me and I have long wanted to direct it. I can’t think of a play more suited to the opening of a season of revenge dramas at Nottingham Playhouse; it’s the most thrilling, funny, and surprising of shows and I‘m really looking forward to staging it Nottingham and then Leeds.”
