Six reasons why we think the Djanogly Learning Resource Centre is incredible

Did you see that Djanogly Learning Resource Centre on the Jubilee Campus was included in the 15 Of The Most Incredible College Libraries Around the World?  Naturally, we were very excited to see our inclusion in the article, written by Hannah Nelson-Teutsch, on blogging website, Bustle.

We wholeheartedly agree with Hannah,  if you haven’t been over to DLRC, here are six reasons why you should come and see what you’ve been missing out on:

1. The views

In her blog post, Hannah talks about the ‘sensational reflecting pool surrounding the library’.  She isn’t wrong! You can get a great view of the lake and Jubilee Campus from pretty much any study space. Even on a less than sunny day like today, Jubilee Campus is simply a stunning  photo opportunity. Just try not to get too distracted looking out of the windows when you’re studying!

2. There’s only one floor

This is something which needs to be experienced. Words in a blog post can’t really explain the architectural quirkiness of the Djanogly Learning Resource Centre. You do not need to go up any steps to get the top. The library is set on a winding spiral around the building. Of course, you can take the more conventional stairs or lift through ‘the core’ of the building but where’s the fun in that?

3. 24 hour computer room

Come in whenever suits you! You can access the computer room at the very top of DLRC 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Even when the rest of the library is closed! Perfect for night owls.

4. Brilliant staff

We have a brilliant team of library staff in DLRC (and every other library!). They are here to help you. Do not worry about going to ask a member of staff a question! Look out for the smiley people in green lanyards – they can help you with any of your library questions.

5. Group study spaces

DLRC has a range of bookable group study spaces for you to collaborate in. These rooms have ample numbers of chairs and more than enough technology to assist your studies. These are some of the most popular facilities on Jubilee and so make sure you book them quickly!

6. Harry Potter

We had to include it really didn’t we! Yes, you can actually borrow Harry Potter from this academic library. DLRC caters for students studying Education, and therefore has a range of children’s books available.

Remember, as a student at the University of Nottingham, you can use any of our eight libraries. Come and visit the Djanogly Learning Resource Centre as soon as you are back!

Massive thanks to Hannah for including us in her list of favourite libraries!
