Global Entrepreneurship Week 2024: Daniel Damasceno de Faria, Founder of Rising Athletes

We’re celebrating the inspiring journey of Daniel Damasceno de Faria, a BSc Industrial Economics student in his placement year. As the founder of Rising Athletes, Daniel’s story demonstrates how the Business School’s programmes and resources support innovation and entrepreneurship.

Daniel is developing Rising Athletes during his placement year with the support of the Ingenuity Impact programme. His placement is being funded and supported by the Witty Entrepreneurial Scholarship to allow him to develop his business further. He designed this unique digital platform to democratise access to elite sports training for young footballers across the UK. By offering personalised training programmes, nutritional guidance, and injury prevention education, the platform ensures that aspiring athletes from all backgrounds receive the support they need to succeed.

In 2024, Daniel received the university’s Social Mobility Prize as part of the Ingenuity Impact National Showcase. This recognition highlights the impactful mission of Rising Athletes: empowering parents and carers with resources that help young athletes thrive.

Reflecting on his journey, Daniel said:

“Participating in Ingenuity Impact has been transformative, equipping me with essential skills and connecting me with inspiring individuals. It has empowered Rising Athletes to drive positive change through social entrepreneurship.”

Daniel has recently joined the Ingenuity Lab, located within the Haydn Green Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Nottingham, to further develop his business. The Ingenuity Lab provides students and alumni with a dedicated space to explore business ideas and launch their enterprises. The Lab offers a supportive and inspiring environment, offering resources and expert guidance designed to accelerate business growth and support entrepreneurial success.

The Ingenuity Impact programme is a national innovation and entrepreneurship initiative that empowers aspiring entrepreneurs to transform ideas for change into successful ventures.
