Department of Accounting hosts BAFA Conference
In January, the Department of Accounting hosted the Joint Annual Conference of the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA) Corporate Finance and Asset Pricing SIG and the Northern Area Group at the Jubilee Conference Centre.
The conference was attended by 51 delegates and researchers from accounting, finance, and economics subject areas, who presented their work on corporate governance, sustainability, Fintech, ESG, and climate finance in 15 different parallel sessions. Colleagues and PhD students from the Business School also attended and presented their work.
The theme of the conference was Accounting and Finance in a World of Change, and Professor Edward Lee from the University of Manchester delivered a keynote speech on Regulatory Uncertainty and Post-earnings Announcement Drift, while Professor Emanuele Borgonovo of Bocconi University spoke about Financial Machine Learning.
From Nottingham University Business School, Professor Musa Mangena and Professor Emmanuel Adegbite delivered a career development workshop for Early Career Researchers in attendance.
“We would like to thank everyone all the participants — keynote speakers, session chairs and presenters for contributing to the BAFA conference,” said co-organiser Dr Subhan Ullah. “We were delighted with the quality of the discussions and presentations that took place over the two days. This was a great opportunity to learn from peers and share ideas about accounting and finance in a world of change.”
