Student Prizes
New for 2012 – during our annual Celebration Event there will be a prize giving for our outstanding award achievers.
We have a number of prizes that are supported by major employers and are designed to reward students who have completed at least 2 modules and made an impact in a particular area. You can nominate yourself in up to 3 prize categories from the 16th January by completing the relevant application forms on workspace.
So far we have 5 prizes available:
The Entrepreneurship and Innovation prize is supported by Ernst & Young which recognises the outstanding achievement of an individual student who has demonstrated an entrepreneurial or innovative approach to activities throughout their award. This prize is for students that want to set up a new business, project or venture. You will need to submit a business plan but if you win you will get £250 to support this and also feedback from an Ernst & Young consultant on how to develop your plan.
The Professional Development prize is supported by PricewaterhouseCoopers which recognises an individual student for their commitment to professional, personal and career development. PwC are looking for evidence that you have been committed to developing your employability, focusing particularly on the development of workplace and career skills through the award. The winner will receive 6 months mentoring by a PwC Senior Associate, £100 towards your ongoing professional or personal development and the opportunity to attend the Insight event.
The Outstanding Enterprising Female Student of the Year prize is supported by Enterprise Rent-a-Car which recognises the outstanding achievement of a female student for their entrepreneurial approaches to activities undertaken throughout the award. The winner will receive a £250 cash prize to support a new or existing venture or project in addition to this a senior manager from Enterprise will provide you with business mentoring for 6 months. This may support your project or venture, or help you think about career development in business.
The Outstanding Contribution to the Community prize is supported by Teach First which recognises the outstanding contribution made by a student to their community. Teach First are looking for students that have demonstrated contributions to the community either through charity work, voluntary work. Teach First are particular interested in targeting STEM graduates to increase the numbers of high calibre science, maths, and technology teachers working in challenging schools. The winner will receive a two week work placement with Teach First at their London offices, where you will get research, analysis, idea generation, marketing and events planning and management experience. You will also receive a grant to support your expenses throughout the placement.
The Leadership prize is supported by Barclays Retail and Business Bank which recognises outstanding leadership skills demonstrated throughout your award. Barclays focus heavily on developing graduates to become the future leaders of tomorrow and the winner will receive a place in their Summer Internship Program and an iPad 2 to help you develop further.
