Spring term modules

Welcome back to all of our students returning to the University after the winter break. We hope you all enjoyed the vacation and are looking forward to the spring term!

For those of you looking to undertake a module this term, these are some of the modules which are still available:

Skills for Employability

You will attend a variety of skills workshops offered by employers visiting the campus in the autumn and spring terms. Skills workshops offered will be in areas such as:

  • interview techniques
  • how to write a good application form
  • commercial awareness

Part-time jobs, vacation jobs and volunteering

This work experience module allows you to accredit any part time work or volunteering that you are doing. This can be during term time or vacation. You will be encouraged to think about how you can get the most out of your work experience and how the skills you are developing should be presented on your CV.

Placements and Internships

This module is for students who are undertaking a placement or internship, either during term or vacation periods.

Language Classes

This module is for students who are taking or who are looking to take evening language learning courses offered by the University.

International Summer Schools

The University summer schools offered at China and Malaysia campuses give students the opportunity to learn about politics, culture, globalisation, security, language, sustainability, industry and more. You will:

  • Understand different cultural contexts and impact on development
  • Reflect upon experiences abroad and development as a global citizen
  • Develop an understanding of the particular subjects on offer

Students’ Union Volunteering

This module is run by the Students’ Union during the spring term. It is for students who are involved in organising a student group within the Students’ Union, such as holding a position on the committee of a society, sports club or student-run service. It is also suitable for those who take part in a long term volunteering activity through the Student Volunteer Centre, such as a placement with an external organisation or a student-led project.
