The Institute for Environmental Management and Assessment joins the Nottingham MOOC Team

Professor Sarah Speight writes: Our upcoming MOOC ‘Sustainability, Society and You‘  is being run in association with IEMA – the Institute for Environmental Management and Assessment. IEMA is a professional association that works with individuals and organisations to set, recognise and achieve global sustainability standards and practice. There are currently about 15,000 IEMA members – all working in sustainability-related areas and committed to pushing forward the sustainability agenda.

Nottingham is one of IEMA ‘s education partners. Working with IEMA gives us access to a ready-made network of professionals who we can use to inspire and advise our students about careers in sustainability.

IEMA also run a whole series of training courses aimed at both sustainability professionals and less expert audiences – for example their ‘All Jobs Greener‘ programme that helps companies to embed the principals of sustainability throughout their business.

IEMA offer careers guidance, training, events, networking and more. They campaign and lobby, and they help to bring universities and business together to increase our knowledge and understanding of what we need to do to protect our world.

Towards the end of ‘Sustainability, Society and You‘, IEMA colleagues will be hosting a live discussion. They will be talking about some of the big issues we face and discussing how IEMA members and indeed all of us can make our contribution to finding some solutions.

You can sign up now for ‘Sustainability, Society and You. It runs for 6 weeks from November 2nd 2015.
