What’s On: Beestival – The Best of Beeston

From Monday 17th June to Saturday 22nd June, there will be an array of events taking place in Beeston as part of Beestival, as well as the opportunity to get your hands on some great money saving vouchers which are valid at local businesses during the week of activities.

We’ve picked out a few highlights of what’s on to share on the blog today – let us know if you attend, we’d love to hear about your experiences and see some photos!

Monday – Saturday – every day this week you’ll be able to visit the Arts and Crafts Fair on Beeston Square to treat yourself to one of the many handmade local products it has to offer. If you pop by on Saturday, there’ll be live music from Ben Ibbotson to accompany your browsing too.

Thursday 20th June – Thursday is a busy day in Beeston! From noon to 2pm there will be a Sizzling Lunch Time barbecue at the White Lion Bar and Kitchen on Middle Street, serving not only your old favourite burgers and sausages, but chicken skewers, tapas tasters and chorizo – all accompanied by local music act Josh Kemp.

Plus on Thursday evening from 7pm til late, there’s a full-blown knees up at the White Lion with Mas Y Mas who’ll be playing their full show-stopping Latin American fiesta set from 9pm with a support act thrown in too!

There’s also a quiz night at the Victory Club on Station Road from 8.30pm.

Friday 21st June – From 4-8pm you’ll be able to check out some live music from Oxjam Beeston 2013 on the Broadgate Park (not to be confused with our halls of residence – you’ll find it just off Beeston High Road.

Saturday 22nd June – From noon to 4pm, you can visit Chilwell High Road and be given a special treat by Gem 106 Gem Stars while you shop as part of the Random Acts of Kindness event. You can also head to the Commercial Inn on Wollaton Road from noon to 6pm for a family fun day and mini jazz festival with music from Jo Barber, Jeanie Barton and the BoHop Trio and Taba Time.

So, if you’re looking for some fun ways to spend your last few days in Nottingham before leaving for the summer – Beeston has plenty to offer this week!
