R&KT Blog reaches a milestone (500 posts)

Since launching this blog in October 2012, we passed the 100th post on the 23rd January 2013 and the 250th post on 14th Aug 2013.

We are delighted to say that this is the 500th post. This is fantastic achievement, and would not be possible without the support of everybody at UNMC. As you may know, we try to post every working day. This would not be possible without material being provided from the faculties, as well as professional services.

We hope that you get information from the blog which would be difficult to disseminate in other ways (other than filling up your inbox).

Now that the blog (we hope) is well and truly established, we are going to change a few things about the way that it is run.

We are struggling to keep on top of the material that we are now sent. It is not just a case of writing the post, but also making sure there is a header image, scheduling it etc. We have recently been taking to the Communications team, as well as the faculties. We are hoping to recruit some additional people who will write the posts on behalf of their faculties. This will enable much more timely release of important events, and may lead to more than one post a day, which is not a bad thing.

We are also talking to people about how to send out the weekly newsletter more efficiently. This is another task that takes time, every week, and is becoming increasingly difficult to do. We’d also like to explore whether a weekly newsletter is needed. Do you read the blog anyway, or do you wait for the newsletter? Please let us know via the comments to this blog post. Even just saying “want newsletter” or “don’t want newsletter” would help us.

Just for completeness, we repeat some of the main areas that we have blogged about over the past couple of years. We would welcome ideas for other themes that you think might be interesting for the UNMC community, bearing in mind that the blog is accessible to everybody (not just UNMC).
