U21 Internship

We have just received this email from U21.

Here some further details about the new U21 Internship.

  • This is a paid internship. U21 will transfer a block sum to the host university to cover all costs.
  • The host university should select a grad student who already works within their institution, and who they feel would be qualified to undertake the work. We will ‘buy-out’ the individuals time and cover all costs associated with their involvement in this project. If you chose to advertise this as a new post, you will undertake the recruitment process entirely and be the point of call with any potential candidates.
  • Each U21 member can put forward one candidate for the post; so creating a short-list of candidates for the Cluster Steering Group to consider.
  • The host university sets the rate of pay; this should be the standard grade for a part-time graduate student employee at their institution. Pay rates across our membership vary quite significantly, we therefore feel the intern should get the pay relative to their region and peers. I will ask further details on your pay-scale when candidates have been short-listed.

Please also see the attached flyer.

If you have anyquestions, please contact Gemma Marakas directly (email: G.Marakas@bham.ac.uk). If you do have a candidate in mind, it is certainly worth asking Gemma about the eligibilty of a UNMC candidate.
