Web of Knowledge

In case you are unfamiliar with some of the facilities that are available to you as a researcher at UNMC, we thought it might be useful to briefly cover some of them.

Many services are subscription based so you either need to be on campus (when the IP will give you access), or you can login via your username/password. It is actually quite difficult to give definitive information as to how you login to each service as they can vary but IT Support will be able to help you.

One of the most useful resources we have available to us is Web of Knowledge (WoK). This is a Thomson Reuter product and Web of Knowledge is actually an umbrella term for a whole range of products.

You can also access through the library gateway, by Google search (other search engines are available) etc.

Once you access it, you will see the following screen:

 

 

This is a very powerful search engine (advanced options are available if this does not do quite what you want), that enables you to search across a wide variety of publications.

But this only scratches the surface as to the services that Web of Knowledge offers. We’ll cover some others in future posts.
