On trial: African American Newspapers (1827-1998) Series 1 and 2

We are pleased to announce that we are providing trial access to African American NewspapersThe trial runs until 5 June 2018.

African American Newspapers, 1827-1998, provides online access to approximately 270 US newspapers chronicling a century and a half of the African American experience.

This unique collection, which includes papers from more than 35 states, features many rare and historically significant 19th-century titles.

This resource allows users to compare and contrast African American views on major themes of the American past including life in the Antebellum South, growth of the Black church, the Jim Crow Era, the Great Migration, Harlem Renaissance, Civil Rights movement, political and economic empowerment and more.
