LGBT History Month – thank you!

In this closing blog post, Claire Henson, People and Culture Events Co-ordinator, reflects on another fantastic LGBT History Month.

As we come to the end of LGBT History Month 2016 at The University of Nottingham, it has been truly fantastic to look back on the events and activities that have been run throughout February to celebrate and to raise awareness.

As well as our own staff and students, we welcomed a range of people onto our campuses to showcase the University’s commitment to equality and diversity. The programme featured schools and departments from across the University, speakers from across the UK and saw partnerships with external organisations such as Stella VisionNew Art Exchange and the Nottingham Contemporary. Special thanks to Dr Max Biddulph, Hannah-Rose Murray, Ian Taylor, Dr Susan Billingham and Katharine Carter for their huge contributions to our LGBT History Month 2016.

If you were unable to attend any of our events in person, you can scroll down to read Storify highlights from three of our events for a glimpse of what was on offer. You can also read Hannah-Rose Murray’s blog post for highlights from Rights and Justice RPA events.

So, as one year passes, planning for another one begins! If you or your school or department would like to contribute to LGBT History Month 2017, please contact the People and Culture Team on peopleandculture@nottingham.ac.uk
