Sophos upgrade 2019
From Monday 20 May, Information Services will be upgrading Sophos on all University managed laptop and desktop computers (see schedule below). Sophos will be upgraded to Sophos Central, which utilises cloud based technology to improve detection rates and has a modernised interface. The core functionality of Sophos Anti-Virus will remain the same.
The installation of the new version will take place in the background. If your computer is currently pending a restart, Sophos Central will not install. We recommend you restart your computer to ensure no restarts are pending. Once actioned, Sophos Central will install automatically.
Once installed, you will be required to restart your computer and there will be a prompt to restart within 24 hours, this will be enforced. You can continue working for up to 24 hours but you cannot hide or close the prompt. Please save your work and restart your computer.
Please note: there is currently no plan to upgrade Sophos Home for personal devices (the free download for staff and students).

3rd June 2019: Engineering (Architecture and Built Environment, Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Engineering Faculty Admin, IAT and Mechanical Materials and Manufacturing Engineering)
10th June 2019: Science (Biology, Biosciences, Chemistry, Computer Science and Information Technology, Horizon, Learning Sciences Research Institute, Mathematical Sciences, Pharmacy, Physics and Astronomy and Psychology)
17th June 2019: Arts and Social Sciences (Cultures, Languages and Area Studies, English Studies, Humanities, Business School, Economics, Education, Geography, IGBiS, Institute of Work, Health and Organisations, Law, Politics and International Relations, School of Contemporary Chinese Studies, Social Sciences and Sociology and Social Policy)
24th June 2019: Medicine and Health Sciences (Health Sciences, Life Sciences, Medicine,
Nurture and Veterinary Medicine and Science)
1st July 2019: Students’ Union
