Goodbye to UoN Secure Wi-Fi and Hello eduroam at King’s Meadow

On Monday 14 December, staff based at King’s Meadow Campus (KMC) officially said goodbye to the UoN Secure Wi-Fi network in favour of adopting eduroam as the sole Wi-Fi network on site. While KMC houses staff in professional services, it is also the home of the Project Transform development team and hosts students during exam periods.

“eudroam has been available for staff and students across all UoN campuses, including China and Malaysia, since September 2015 but we have continued to run the UoN Secure wireless network in tandem to allow time for transition,” said Lucy Burrow, Director of Global IT Service Delivery.

“The key benefit of eduroam is that the majority of other UK Higher Education Institutions already use it. When I visited Kings College London recently I connected to eduroam Wi-Fi automatically, the same happened when I visited our Ningbo campus in mid-November.”

How to connect to eduroam?

1. Go to Wi-Fi settings on your device
2. Select the Wi-Fi network ‘eduroam’
3. Enter your University username followed by @nottingham.ac.uk and password (For example: abyab@nottingham.ac.uk)
4. Accept the certificate when prompted
Alternatively, you can use the eduroam Configuration Assistance Tool to automatically set up your device.

Detailed instructions for eduroam set up on mobile devices is available on our website. If you experience any difficulties accessing eduroam please contact the IT Service desk via email or phone them on 0115 951 6677.
