MayFest, Saturday May 9th – what a great fun day at the Digital Humanities Centre!

The University of Nottingham’s Annual Mayfest 2015 saw the DHC undergo a great transformation…that is, into our very own time-machine!

The many visitors who joined us on Saturday (9th May) became time-travellers and were digitally transported to the lands of Greek and Roman antiquity, but not before they were made to look the part ….

The Classics Department’s team led by Dr Lynn Fotheringham provided our punters with some magnificent Roman hairstyles in the Humanities Building’s Atrium before they entered the DHC’s dressing-room, donned suitable attire and chose their weapons. They then posed in front of a proper studio green-screen whilst the DHC team switched on the time-machine and let them experience the magic (i.e. we took some pics and DHC’s student volunteers put their ever-developing Photoshop skills to some good use!).

Along with the other activities hosted in the Humanities Building, such as “Meet the Vikings”, oral histories of the Boots Company, a showcase of Nottingham’s manuscripts collection and opportunities to get into different historical periods through storytell, the Mayfest a very special heritage day for all those who attended.
