World Shakespeare Festival
Work commitments and money restrictions are forcing me to be very conservative when it comes to this year’s World Shakespeare Festival, but I’m pleased that I’ve finally now got a few tickets booked and looking forward to being there for at least some of the Festival! So far I’m booked for the Globe to Globe productions of Venus and Adonis, All’s Well that Ends Well and The Merchant of Venice, and in Stratford A Tender Thing and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (As You Like It). What’s everyone else looking forward to?

Merchant in Hebrew is an absolute must. The 3 parts of Henry VI in one day will be absolutely epic, particularly from Balkan theatre companies who have direct experience of civil war. South Sudan’s Cymbeline is a political as well as artistic event. The hip-hop Othello has sold out for all performances!
Seeing almost all the rest: the Ningawa Cymbeline should be interesting, as should the RSC’s pan-African Julius Caesar and Indian Much Ado. Intrigued by The Rest is Silence and Romeo & Juliet in Baghdad.
