MOU-University of Nottingham and Shanghai Jiao Tong University

On 15 November 2019 the University of Nottingham and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (QS Globally ranked 60)  signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The MOU was signed by Professor XI Lifeng, Vice President and Professor Dame Jessica Corner, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange.

The agreement focuses upon deepening collaboration in the areas of Agriculture and Biotechnology particularly between the University of Nottingham’s Future Food and Green Chemicals Beacons of Excellence and Shanghai Jiao Tong’s Schools of Agriculture and Biology and Life Sciences /Biotechnology; with Brain Sciences which will draw upon Shanghai Jiao Tong’s expertise in Brain Science and Technology and the University’s Precision Imaging Beacon of Excellence; and Smart Manufacturing particularly in the areas of advanced manufacturing.

The MOU sets out 3 mechanisms of collaboration to develop mutually beneficial research programmes with a focus on Workshops and Symposia to create challenge led research programmes; Mobility, Exchange and joint PhD Programmes which builds upon an existing track record of collaboration; and Joint Laboratories and Centres drawing on capabilities from both universities.

We are very keen to hear from any Researchers who have existing collaborations with Shanghai Jiao Tong University which we can bring together under this exciting Memorandum of Understanding. We are actively encouraging new collaborations under this partnership and are able to offer support.
