Shanghai Advanced Nursing CPD at Nottingham

In October 2019, Asia Business Centre (ABC) supported and delivered an International Advanced Nursing Career Development Programme for a chief nurse delegation coming from 12 triple-A-grade hospitals selected by Shanghai Medical and Health Development Foundation. Professor Carol Hall, Director of Global Engagement, Education and Student Experience School of Health Sciences, was the academic lead for the programme.

A distinguishing feature of this programme that it part took place at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China Campus with the delegates then coming to Nottingham.
The programme was of very high quality and was wide ranging, including lectures on Postgraduate Teaching and Research; UK NHS Healthcare Systems and Current Situation of Nursing in the UK; Leadership and innovation for nursing and healthcare; Children’s Nursing and Children’s healthcare research; and midwifery care and research in the UK. Experts from Nottingham University Hospitals and Rainbows Hospice also contributed to the programme.

Classroom based discussions were complemented by visits to Primary Integrated Community Services (pics), Queens Medical Centre and the Royal College of Nursing in London.

This programme is an example of the University of Nottingham sharing its expertise with Chinese partners and working collaboratively with superb organisations in China who are looking to understand the UK NHS experience.
