Gaokao Champions meet Nobel Laureate
On Wednesday the Asia Business Centre and the Nottingham Confucius Institute hosted the Chinese internet company Baidu Wenku and 10 Gaokao Champions at the University of Nottingham. The Champions achieved the top grade in their respective Provinces and it was great to welcome them to Nottingham.
The University signed a MOU with Baiku Wenku to look at research collaborations and internships. With over 50 million users and 500 million views per day, this agreement represents a great opportunity to work together, bringing our research capabilities to an innovative, growing company.
A real highlight of the day was when the Gaokao Champions met with Sir Peter Mansfield, the inventor of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Nobel Laureate. Accompanied by Lady Mansfield, Sir Peter generously gave his time to answer individual questions from the students. It was truly inspiring how Sir Peter spoke to the students and shared the story of MRI and how he developed his ideas. It was a wonderful afternoon and the students were hugely enthused by their time with Sir Peter.
