A round the world ticket for our alumni activity – 5 countries in 4 days!

Our international alumni community have been more active than ever over the last two weeks with events in 5 countries in 4 days.

Alumni in the USA, Indonesia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and Chile have all been out in force to network with each other, meet senior University staff, as well as helping to inspire the next generation of alumni by meeting with students holding offers to study at Nottingham.

Alumni Ambassador, Yinka and FUN Board Member, Adrian in New York

It has been a busy time, and great to see so many of our alumni getting involved.  Here’s a quick summary of what’s been happening:

Saudi Arabia – British Council UK Alumni Gala Dinner – 14 April

Alumni came together in Riyadh to attend a gala dinner hosted by the British Ambassador HMA Simon Collis at the British Ambassador’s Residence. Our alumni ambassador and University staff including Professor Farouk Shakib, Assistant Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Africa and the Middle East), were present on the night and thoroughly enjoyed meeting all those who attended.

New York – Alumni professional networking event – 14 April

Our alumni ambassador Yinka, along with FUN: America Board members, welcomed alumni to a drinks and canapés networking reception at Sake Shochu bar at Zengo.  Despite a few unexpected waterworks (due to the air conditioning system breaking down!), the group were quickly re-located to another nearby restaurant and an excellent evening was had by all.

Singapore – Alumni professional networking event – 15 April

Provost and CEO of our Ningbo Campus, Professor Nick Miles OBE, was joined by over 50 alumni at the Marina Bay Sands Expo Centre for an evening of professional networking over drinks and canapés.  We were also very lucky to have Professor Sayed Azam-Ali attend from the Malaysia campus and speak about his fascinating work on crops for the future.

Indonesia and Chile – Offer holder events, with alumni volunteers – 16 and 17 April respectively

Thank you to our alumni in Indonesia and Chile who came forward to volunteer their time to meet with students planning to study at Nottingham.  The students in attendance really appreciated the opportunity to hear first-hand from our alumni about their time at Nottingham and the fantastic things you can achieve with a Nottingham degree.  Alumni volunteering their time in this way is really important in inspiring the next generation of students to study at Nottingham.
